When Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched its landmark AI Springboard initiative at its Level 5 Townhall in Singapore, they wanted more than a standard promotional novelty. The goal was to demonstrate the practical, creative, and technical power of their generative AI foundation models—specifically Amazon Bedrock—through an interactive attendee touchpoint. AWS needed an experiential photo activation that wasn’t running on external consumer apps or third-party black-box APIs. Every layer of the data pipeline had to run 100% natively on AWS enterprise cloud infrastructure while meeting strict enterprise data security and compliance requirements. Rather than generating random fantasy avatars, the Printaparty creative engineering team designed a culturally resonant narrative tailored to Singapore’s technological transformation: A Journey Through Time. When attendees stepped into the booth, our system captured their portrait and generated a bespoke, dual-era 4R split souvenir:- The Left Side (1960s Archival Heritage): An AI-stylized, vintage black-and-white portrait of the guest transported back to Singapore’s 1960s nation-building era, complete with authentic period lighting, grainy film textures, and archival street scenes.
- The Right Side (2080s Visionary Future): A vibrant, stylized 3D cartoon avatar of the guest reimagined 60 years into futuristic Singapore, set against speculative architectural landmarks, lush vertical biophilic super-structures, and smart mobility skylines.
The Technical Architecture: Built 100% on Native AWS Services
To comply with enterprise security standards, Printaparty re-engineered its proprietary capture pipeline to interface directly with AWS cloud services with zero external dependencies:
- Inference & Stylization via Amazon Bedrock: At the heart of the engine, Bedrock managed the multi-modal generative transformation. Our team engineered custom in-house prompt pipelines that balanced drastic artistic restyling (black-and-white vintage vs. futuristic 3D cartoon) while rigorously preserving each guest’s recognizable facial identity, glasses, and expression.
- Session Orchestration on Amazon EC2: A scalable EC2 instance hosted our custom backend middleware, handling the secure API dispatch, queue management, and compositing of the dual-panel 4R print layout.
- Secure Asset Storage on Amazon S3: All raw captures and rendered outputs were routed to encrypted S3 buckets with ephemeral lifecycles to protect attendee privacy.
- State & Metadata Management via Amazon RDS: Managed session states, tokenized user phone numbers/emails, and logged live throughput metrics.
- Omnichannel Instant Dispatch (Connect & SES): Guests received high-resolution digital copies directly on their mobile devices via automated WhatsApp/SMS dispatch powered by Amazon Connect, alongside instant high-res email delivery through Amazon SES.
Hardware & On-Site Operational Execution
Operating inside the corporate AWS Townhall required an elegant, zero-clutter physical footprint that delivered seamless throughput for 100 to 200 high-profile enterprise guests:
- Custom Integrated Studio Enclosure: We deployed Printaparty’s sleek, all-in-one studio kiosk housing an integrated Canon DSLR camera for crisp optical capture and an intuitive iPad touchscreen interface for frictionless guest interaction.
- Processing Latency: The end-to-end cloud inference pipeline across Bedrock returned fully stylized dual portraits within 8 to 30 seconds—exceptionally fast for a complex dual-model generative pipeline.
- Lab-Quality 4R Dye-Sublimation Prints: While guests previewed their digital outputs, our on-site commercial thermal dye-sublimation printer produced high-gloss 4R physical keepsakes with zero wet-ink drying time, branded with official AWS AI Springboard commemorative overlays.
