When Amazon Web Services (AWS) set out to launch their historic AI Springboard event in Singapore, they had a bold vision — to create an immersive AI photo booth experience that showcased their suite of cloud services, especially Amazon Bedrock. They turned to Printaparty, known for delivering innovative photobooth experiences, to bring this concept to life.
A First-of-Its-Kind AI Cartoon Booth — Built Entirely on AWS
Amazon requested a custom AI cartoon booth built exclusively on AWS infrastructure. This wasn’t just about creating fun photos. It was about showcasing the power of AWS generative AI through an immersive and unforgettable user experience. So we rolled up our sleeves and completely re-engineered our system to run only on AWS.
Here’s how the booth came together, fully powered by AWS:
Amazon EC2: Hosted the core AI system on scalable virtual servers.
Amazon S3: Used for storing user photos and generated artwork.
Amazon Bedrock: The engine for AI image processing and generation.
Amazon RDS: Managed user sessions and metadata in a secure database.
Amazon Connect: Enabled WhatsApp and SMS delivery of digital copies.
Amazon SES: Service used to emailed AI artworks to participants.
This full AWS stack integration required custom development work, including adapting our AI processing engine to Amazon Bedrock — a first for us at Printaparty.
The Experience: A Journey Through Time
The concept of the AI booth was truly unique. Guests would:
Take a photo at the booth.
Get transformed into the past and the future.
On the left side of the photo print: A black-and-white AI-stylised portrait of the guest in Singapore’s 1960s, matching archival scenes of the era.
On the right side: A cartoon version of the guest reimagined 60 years into the futuristic Singapore of 2080, standing proudly in front of visionary Singaporean landmarks.
The booth’s creative output was visually stunning and it also told a compelling narrative about Singapore’s transformation and technological progress, aligning perfectly with the theme of the AI Springboard launch.
